The recommended replacement cycle of fuel filters should be specifically treated rather than generally, it defers according to their different structures, performances, and usages. If the fuel filter is installed in the fuel pipe, it is called External. On the contrary, the Internal fuel filter is installed in the fuel pump and fuel tank. In which, fuel filter or its protecting casing is considered as the maintenance-free components.
Most of the car manufactures recommend that the replacement cycle for External fuel filters’ normal maintenance is 48 thousand km. The recommended replacement cycle for conservative maintenance should be from 19.2 to 24 thousand km. If you are not sure of the right recommended replacement cycle, please thumb the car manual to look up. In addition, if the flexible hose of the fuel filter is blocked by dust, motor oil, or such kind of dirt and becomes old and splits, the hose needs to be changed promptly.
